Update #1

Hello and welcome to the first weekly development update for our game Craters Landing. There are two of us working on the game currently and we'd love to hear feedback if anyone has any. Firstly, here are some of the names you might here mentioned during the weekly updates:

Craters Landing - An android/augment repair shop on the outskirts of "the capital" it deals in top ups which is the equivalent to bartending and major repairs.

Sterling Co. - A defunct company which sold oil and artificial earth materials. Also hold stocks on all other major companies. Owner was murdered. Their downfall lead to outlawing android slavery.

Zero Inc - An American former android creating company, now they focus on augments.

Hasekura Technology - A Japanese android company, it is the leading company.

Braxx Organisation - Group of historians who are obsessed with steampunk look.

Augments/Nanotech - both belong to humans, augments are far more common due to them being able to adapt to space better. Nanotech is only slightly used in space, mostly for IDs, communication etc. Orbiters are people with a rare disease that cannot have any of these enhancements.

Throughout these updates, there will be an expansion on what each of these different key terms relates too, as well as an expansion on how the characters within our story relate to these key terms as well. One of the problems with having development updates like this is that it's hard to show what you have done when most of it could essentially be best described as spoiler territory, something you do not want people to see when making your game. We'll try get a new piece of art out once a week as well for as long as it takes until the games in a safe state where we can focus all our efforts into coding. This is an important thing to bring up as coding has sort of been the one part of the development that keeps getting pushed further and further back into the span of the development. I'm not saying that it is impossible, however coding a demo for the game is simply the extent of my skills in Unity, after that we can hire another coder out of pocket for a bit, see the results and then continue with that should be receive financial support. As for the time being the state of our project is as such:

7 Characters fully designed visually

5 Characters with complete backstories

Half a chapter of script complete

A menu theme

World lore

Semi-Functioning unity code

We'll be expanding on this for next week but as it stands this is what we're working with so far. For the music, i'm going to try and get out one track a week, same applies to the music that did with the coding though, i'm not amazing at it, and if other priorities start taking over then i can source someone online for a couple test tracks.

If anyone has any feedback please do leave it below as it really helps us out as corny as that sounds.

Thanks!

-Arch
